OUT & ABOUT

The Lotus is perfectly located in the stunningly wild and beautiful Armorique National Park, to explore the best the region has to offer.

Brittany is all about getting away from it all, whether you’re walking or enjoying good food, following your dreams or just exploring.  Along the footpaths, on the beach or in the cobbled streets, take a deep breath of fresh air and let yourself relax! It's what holidays are all about.

Surrounded by  countryside and charming french villages there is so much to discover. The Lotus is just 10 minutes from the enchanting lakeside village of Huelgoat, home to many Celtic legends and only a 45 minute drive  to the stunning north and west coast beaches. You will be spoilt for choice.

Recommendations

There are too many things to see and do in the area but here are a few personal recommendations;

Visit the magical lakeside town of Huelgoat, only a 10 minute drive away and explore the beautiful boulders and forest. Stop for lunch to sample some local crepes and cider before returning for a lazy afternoon in the garden.

Take a trip to the nearby Château de Trevarez.  An imposing building with a fascinating history and a beautiful garden. The rhododenrons and azaleas in the springtime are not to be missed.

For those feeling more active then why not cycle the Nantes- Brest canal. At 385 km long you won't do it all in a day! If cycling is not your thing you can walk and hike to your hearts content on miles and miles of off- road tracks and the GR34 coastal path.

For something a little more unusual why not try your hand at falconry at nearby Berrien or go land yachting at Pentrez Plage.

For days further afield you must discover the Crozon Peninsula and the famous  Île de la Vierge beach or drive down to Benodet and take a boat trip to the stunning Glenan Isles. A new discovery and personal favourite is Carantec and the  Île de Callot. It's not to be missed.

Finally, a hobby of mine, visit a vide grenier (usually on Sundays) or a brocante shop and pick up a bargain or french antique (whichever suits your budget!)

....... and don't forget all the amazing food and drink to be had too.
